What is the best Engine / Trans set up for this car?
I have had one since 1986 that we ran brackets with. I have always wanted to run Stock Class with this car. I am checking to see if any one is running a 67 Fairlane 2 door post in stock class with a 289 / automatic trans. If so how is it working. I was not able to find anybody with that combo. How is the 1967 390 / automatic combination for stock? or 4speed. Thanks for any help and informaion available. |

Jim, get hold of RJ Sledge on this site. He'll know best. Good luck.

Not much choice in those cars. 390 and 427 are the only combinations with potential. There is a 390 2-bbl and a 289 2-bbl, but the carbs are two small and the hp is too high for both.

Go with the stick combo, Jim. The fun factor is there and also less chance of a heads up run. My 2 cents.
