I think your rite . There's also a 28 inch x9 Hoosier witch should be a little better than a 29 x9 or 30x9 high tire . I think it should hook ok with that tire .
What do you think about using a lower tire for fine tuning the final ratio ?? |

Something I haven't mentioned yet.
I built one of those cars (an Olds with a 350 Buick, T 200 , no roll bar) It came out about 600 pounds light for O/SA.... about 3000 and change. You should end up with a bunch of ballast in the back. With a SBC and a stick, I don't see where traction and tires would be much of an issue.
