This is second-hand information, so I can't guarantee its veracity, but someone at the race told me that Keith Lynch in a '70 Camaro (B/SA 375/402) won the free race, and, that someone named "Walther" in a G-Stick car was runner-up.
I hope that's correct... Keith ran a 10.36.... in "B/SA." Density altitude was reportedly around 2,300 feet.. Bill

That's correct. Lynch beat Dave Walther, who redlighted. Shaw took a .58 hit earlier. It was fun to run and watch.

Here are the "official" results....
The stock & super stock cars were combined on a ladder, qualified by best reaction time, after the 3rd round. 4th round pairings were: Kieth Lynch got the bye Danny Doughy redlit to Jerry Davis Steven Hall and David Buchner had identical .037 reaction times, Buckner ran 1.09 under beating Hall's 1.05 under performance Dave Walther strapped s .018 reaction on Emery Pierport's .037 and ran 1.00 under to take the win. Rober Shaw and Vic Penrod were both late on the tree, but Shaw had to take a 1.31 under index to get the win. He was CIC'd .31 for the next round. 5th round results: Lynch and Davis had a pair of .05 reaction times with Davis running 1.06 under while Lynch picked up the win with a 1.08 under run. Lynch CIC'd .08 for the semi's. Buchner got the bye Dave Walther put a .039 light and a 1.13 under run to beat Shaw's .080 light and 1.07 under run. In the 6th round, Buchner redlit against Lynch, and Walther got the bye The final round had Lynch leaving first only losing .08 off of his NHRA 11.55 index. Walther started the race with his NHRA index of 12.20, but hit his index for .22 during the first 6 rounds, and was dialed in at 11.98. Lynch left first, with his worst reaction time of the event at .122, but that was good enough for the win as Walther pulled the gun too quick, handing a redlight win to Lynch. The race went smooth, and all seemed happy with the format. Thanks to all the sponsors who supported this race. Pat The winner and runner-up will have to pass tech for carb only. |
