Default Under the index??

Newbie question.. I understand you want to be able to run under your index in your class. Is there a number that's to far under your index? Ken

1.00 under triggers the Automatic Horsepower Factoring System. If a bunch of similar cars run 0.85 under, that trips it too. If you are an NHRA member, go to the NHRA Competition link at the top of this page and find the AHFS info link.

It takes two runs of 1.00 under or more to trigger a review for that review period, one run will not trigger the system. A run of 1.20 under will trigger an automatic adjustment on Tuesday.

Just a side note, a great resource is Nitro Joes stats, NitroJoe is a member on here, he compiles stats for every class and publishes a end of year book with all of the cars best runs listed by class. Contact him by messaging him on this forum. Also has other info he can provide, basic end of year book was only $25 last year, well worth it.

The only exception to what has been posted above is in regards to National Open events.

At National Opens, you can run as quick as you want without any penalties. ( i.e. getting hit with h.p.)

And, the further under -1.20 you run at a Nat'l or Div'l event, the bigger the penalty. Halfway down the page in this link shows the chart, and penalty for how far under:
