The older cars are at least getting that benefit as well. Its called Edelbrock Aluminum Heads (NHRA legal/approved).

It's a minimum 10HP penalty for the Edelbrock/GM head on a big block Chevy in Stock Eliminator. And as an example, the fastest 427/425 69 Camaros in the country, owned by the Sorenson Brothers, and Bobby DeArmond, have iron heads. I'm not at all convinced that the Edelbrock/GM head has done anything for the 427/425 we run. If we go back to the 427/425, it will probably have a set of Jimmy Bridges cast iron heads on it. That head seems to work for the 396/375 though.

I thought taking 3 tenths off the indexes was supposed to fix everything? Fell for that one hook, line, and sinker didn't we?

didn't do a darn ting except lower the car counts due to the bottom of the list qualifiers that could no longer run their indexes. One of the issues with the new cars is the high cost to purchase one and get it into race trim. A new guy starting out cant afford one of these new cars. everyone knows the HP numbers are way out of whack on the new cars even the owners. The qualifying sheet at Indy sure showed that.

I'm sure I will get tarred and feathered for this, but my suggestion would be to make the trigger .50-.60 under. Also I would suggest making the trigger at random races .30-.35 under in the 1/8 mile and may be use both at the same race. I think this would get everybody looked at much sooner and things in line quicker. I agree that the factory shoot out cars should be in there own category. and that the FI cars be placed in there own categories as well.

On another note..........
What would happen if a racer with a large amount of disposable income purchased a variety of FX cars and ran them balls out at a few Divisional Races????????????? After the bloodletting the rich racer could take the decreased value as a cost of doing business and write off the loss............. But the factory probably has a clause in the purchase agreement, which would also include an NDA, that they would only run as fast as necessary to destroy Stock Eliminator... Just my thoughts, Bob

It just seems to me that the biggest gripe is
that the "FS" cars face no penalty for going more than - 1.00 under.. I love the new cars, they are the future and here to stay. The simplest short term solution to me seems to me at races where FS cars run let 'em fly...., just do not punish "traditional" cars with "AHFS"...., let 'em fly as well...? Same rules for all.... no discriminating...... Hope stock/super stock does not look like comp. with 1,000 footers.....
