21 last year. Denver is not a popular meet for sportsman, but it does attract fans.

I agree with Tony. It's the track.

With the way the houses keep getting closer to the track it will be gone soon.

No gentlemen, it ain't, the track. It is the new NHRA....aka...No Happy Racers Allowed. Years ago running Class elims at a National event would really draw the racers...now Class Elims is a joke. Congrats again Glendora ..keep up the good work and you will turn into IHRA shortly. LOL....M.J.

It's a tough tow MJ and they do pit you almost a mile from the starting line but he real reason I quit going is they killed class racing there and the structure of the payouts. They quit the single car class thing. I have no idea why they cant pay at the few other class races. I understand its dollars and sense but 40 more cars would pay for a few class winners. That just a business mans point of view which is not relavent in the thought process at NHRA.

At the LODRS event at Bandimere in June, there were 15 qualifiers in SS and 30 in Stock. Currently there are 20 pre-entries in SS and 32 in Stock for the Mile-High Nationals. From that perspective attendance is up.

Well, for a LOT of the guys I talk to, it's the track and the tow there. And I'm not just talking about the distance. We just won't go back to that place.

I used to attend the national event at Denver when NHRA had the points meet in Douglas prior to Denver. 2000 mile round trip from Mpls. to Denver for one race is to much. Back then there was room on the blacktop for sportsman racers, now they put all of us in the dirt/broken blacktop 1 mile from the staging area. If I was local I would go, but not now.

Went to Denver in 2012 and was pitted so far from the staging lanes that I had to use my GPS and MapQuest to find them...........

I was pitted in the rock and ruble past the end of the shut out area and even got caught in a dust-devil that filled my car with trash while driving back to my pit spot......

Still had and a good time trying to make a car perform at more than 10,000 foot corrected DA.....

The best part of the trip was racing at Douglas, WY which is nice mom & pop type of drag strip.....The strip manager even made my reservations for me.......Nice track with nice people....Even had some good racing

Bob

PS:

It was only a 1500 mile tow over the Rockies, each way, from Gilroy, CA by myself....

PSS:
I would do it again in a heartbeat...

Bob
