Photo's show X-Ram Intake, Valve Covers, X Member, Weight Box & Bolt On Weights finally are back from the powder coater's. They did a very nice job. I picked up a legal engine that is machined and pretty much ready to assemble, less camshaft, and a few other minor pieces. Any camshaft recommendations? So if all goes well maybe have this thing ready next spring?

Everything for the engine is at RWR, except the cam and lifters. If it all goes as planned I will take it to Vegas this fall? Holley carbs are direct from Holley 4235 & 4236. No need to spend a fortune restoring carbs this time. What kind of dyno numbers should I expect?

I'd think you should see somewhere around 725-750 hp. Keep us posted! I can't wait to see the car.

Tom: if your engine's good, it'll be 690 - 700 hp. If it's really good it'll be 700 - 715 hp. The problem is with the manifold, after 7200 it'll drop like a rock. Your camshaft selection is critical. You need to be sending bribe money to Chuck Rayburn. lol. But, then again, what do I know ?!.. - Jim -

Thanks for the positive comments! Here is hoping it runs as good as it looks! I really enjoy building these cars, gives me something to think about and do in the winter here. My evil plan is to work the bugs out of the Hemi car this fall and next spring, then attend the Bowling Green and Indy races next year 2015 for my 50th birthday. Tibor and I really have enjoyed going to those races, so we are hoping it all works out, maybe we will enter my Thunderbolt and Hemi car in the same class to hopefully have a class final together?
I ordered a transmission from Protrans with a Sept 1 delivery date, so if the engine is finished by the time the trans is ready I will bring it all home and should be ready for Vegas? |
