Ran across a picture in a old Corvette News magazine showing the big block assembly line in Tonawanda nj from the mid 60s.Next to the assembly line was a garbage can full of empty shaving cream cans. What did they use the shaving cream for while they were assembling a big block engine?I have heard of it being used for this before ,but didnt know they actually did this on the assembly line.

i would assume to fill the water jackets of the heads before installing them to prevent crap and flashing from falling into the cylinders. dave
