The converse could be said as well. Shouldn't the slowest cars have the same safety regs as the fastest? I mean if a AAA/SA got out of shape and drilled a U/SA car at the stripe, the U/SA guy is not safe at all.

Maybe the AAA/SA doesn't belong in stock..... Should all of the "stock" type cars have be upgraded to the Super Stock or Comp rules because NHRA has put a car that belongs in Super Stock or Comp into Stock???????????????? Just another way at fixing a problem that NHRA has caused........ Talk about the tail wagging the dog...but wait the tail and the dog both belong to NHRA.... This is a classic example of "The law of unintended consequences Now NHRA has to fix a problem that didn’t exist until NHRA started placing 157 MPH cars into Stock… It looks like the quote “You can’t fix stupid” is still alive and well at NHRA… Bob

I buy the cheap ones. I have G Force in my car now. No sense buying the expensive ones and throwing them away every 2 years. The G Force ones look a little faded after two years.

You got that right. To me, "stock" is something you can buy off the showroom floor with a VIN number. NHRA is too anxious to bend the rules to suit the manufacturers.
I did just replace the driver's side belts in my car, found a better set down at the local wrecking yard. Jim Mantle V/SA 6632 |

I am amazed at how many people don't think they should have good safety equipment because they may have a slower stocker. Do you think you can't get hurt because you ONLY go 80 or 90 mph. Do you think that there is never the possibility that you might get hit by the car in the other lane. It doesn't have to be a AAA stocker. An A stock 69 Camaro is going a lot faster than you are. Keep using that stock seat belt. Apparently your life isn't worth that 100 dollar five point harness. I do think the 2 year rule is ridiculous, but I'm still going to try and be as safe as I can be.

I ran the Turismo (DF/S) at the Spring Fling one year, 1000' bracket race. First round, I drew a Top Sportsman car. Tree'd him, broke out by a thou. "Darn" Look up, and he's sideways in front of me in my lane. If he'd lost it at half track, he would've gone THROUGH me, and I don't think any amount of roll cage, 5-way harness, helmet, neck restraints etc could've save me given the MPH difference. While I did finish out the weekend, I can chalk it up to one of the dumber things I've done. 8-second cars have no business in Stock.
This pic is just from a 'Dash for Cash' run (handicapped start, but no stripe-drivin' involved), against another Top Sportsman car. I snapped the pic when he was 400' BEHIND me. Gives you an idea of how much ground they cover. That's the 1000' stripe in the mirror. ![]()

And this is posted in a thread complaining about seat belt requirements. How about common sense requirements? Wow. Just wow...

I think M.B. can handle that task, no problem.

People manually shift cars, look over their shoulder, and drive the stripe within thousandths of a second, sometimes under heavy breaking, while going nearly twice as fast. If driving 70 mph in a straight line is the sum total of someone's physical driving capacity, they have no business in something resembling an actual race car.
