Ed
1/8th mile is a lot of fun. Not much time for games. You see more all out runs. I actually prefer running 1/8th mile. Its much easier on your equipment. Everyone has there preferences.

Mike, I've tried it. Found it boring. It is easier to drive the finish line at lower speeds. Pretty much always went rounds. Just did not like it. I would stay home first.

Ed I'm gonna disagree with you there brother. While I too prefer 1/4 mile, most of what we have down here is 1/8th and I enjoy it for the challenge of driving the stripe. Speed has VERY little to do with driving the stripe. Closing rate is EVERYTHING. In the eigth you have very little time to get a look at whats going to happen, make a decision, and execute. Personally I feel like I have FOREVER to make a decision when running 1/4 after running 1/8th for many years.
PS; Chip is good. Picked up a lil over the -2 chip that was in it but it seems waayyy more consistent. |

Actually, speed has a lot to do with it, just *different* from closing rate. The faster you're going, the more distance per time you cover. Top Dragsters taking .001 at 190 mph is a few inches. A Jr. Dragster taking .001 at 70 mph is much tighter!
I've raced a few 1000' events, and find it to be the best of both worlds. Closer handicaps like 1/8th, but bigger speeds like 1/4 mile. From 1000' on, you're just ridin'.

For me, I like 1000'......eighth a little quick but better than not racing. My 265 is puking it's guts after 1250 anyway. A lotta bad can happen after 1000

CRAP! Not even built yet and my combo is getting hit! Oh well, 7hp won't make the difference of qualifying or not...I think. LOL!
