Sad indeed. Recently we had good conversations of making a car run with a little motor, a stick and no carburetor to speak of.

That big super stock 352 ford sure was cool that he raced when I got my start.

Kip was always there to support The Southwest Nostalgia Drags
It was always fun to tell the uninitiated that he had a 289 and not a 427 under the hood of that Mustang.

See ya later on, buddy

AAHHH ! Damn it, Kip, we were good friends as soon as I bought my first stocker motor from you decades ago. Always good conversations at the track.
Teach 'em how to 'wheelie' with a stick shift up there. See ya mate !

When guys come in to my Pontiac engine shop and ask why there's this Mustang picture on my fridge I tell them, "Kip Martin" that's why." ~Respect.~ Damn little of it left nowadays.

I was so looking forward to seeing him again when I get back racing, knowing I could count on his genuine encouragement.

Thanks AutoImagery.com

Kip was not only a racer / machinist / engine buider / record setter, he had other interests also, roller skating, bike riding, piano, he was my core hunting buddy, I always bounced my ideas off him, the people who knew him, he always had a common sense approach to engine building, and solving problems, he did more with less than anyone I know. We will miss you.

Can't even begin to express how deeply saddened I am to learn of Kip's passing. I never had the opportunity to meet him, but between stories from my dad and others, it almost felt like I knew him. Wish I had. There are many names in the sportsman ranks that, to me, are pioneers of the sport. Names I grew up with. He is...was one of them. For all that you knew about Fords, I'll bet the good Lord will help you find another tenth in the Mustang in the sky. Rest in piece.
