I want to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who replied to this post. When I started it, I never expected to get more than 100 replies and over 25,000 views.
Now that we have all this great info, the big question is what to do with it. For certain, I'll be doing a feature in the print edition of National Dragster at some point this year on some of the rarest and most valuable class cars that are still in competition. It's probably going to take a while to gather photos and info on some of these cars but off the top of my head I'd say we'll have something together around the Gainesville/Belle Rose races. I also have a few great ideas for cars that would make perfect subjects for our popular Featured Flyers section. A few others may find their way into my online column, The Sports Report, which appears each Wednesday on www.nationaldragster.net. Thanks again and keep the great ideas coming, Kevin McKenna National Dragster |

The Carpinet Brothers 1968 Hemi Cuda - This car was one of the 68 Hemi's originally owned by Sox and Martin and driven by the "Four Speed Legend" Ronnie Sox. The car was also owned and raced by Jack Arnew!
The original 1968 Z-28 Camaro owned and raced by Dave Strickler, which won the world championship in SS in 1968. Currently owned by Jerry MacNeish and will be on the block at Barrett/Jackson auction later this month!

Ben Wenzel's 1967 Z28 and Dan Fletcher's 1969 Z28, both race cars since new. Ben's Z28 is one of 602 built and the vin number's last three numbers are 602. Dans Z28 is the winningest car in nhra history and is a multiple time world champion super stocker. His two sons Timothy and Thomas are involved in drag racing and this car will probably be a three generation racer as Dan's dad Tom bought it new.

Don't know if any real one are still running but the 69 SS/ AMX's always put on a great show. With only 52 built they have to be on the list.

post #108 mentioned the 1969 SS/AMX and questioned if any of the originals are running. The answer is yes my car is # 20 of that group and I still race it mostly at IHRA events. It came from Bill Swad AMC dealer in Columbus, ohio and was purchase and raced by the late Ray Whinery who lived in Lisbon, OH. I bought the car fom Ray in 1973.It should be worth a few pennies.
