Talking Live from the Chevrolet Performance Center - Wixom, MI

Well members here it is almost Thanksgiving and I was sure my last "Live" was done more than a month ago but here we go again .This weekend myself along with other COPO owners have been invited to the Chevrolet Performance Center in Wixom , Michigan to a mini seminar to learn about our cars and much more .Topics will range from racing strategy to engine options from Roger Allen .After that Robin Wright will then review features from our COPO's that will help us win more .Reps from Holley EFI Performance will feature tuning tips that will help us reach the winners circle next year .

For those of you who aren't aware of the facts the Wixom center is where they build Chevrolet Performance engines and do engine testing and development .

After all that the main attraction will be a live dyno session with a real COPO engine .Two full days at a cars guys mecca - pinch me as I think Christmas is arriving early .

The Chevrolet Performance Team is pulling out all the stops in their effort to give us a superior racing product along with some great training tools - thanks Chevy ! !

I started this thread a little early as tomorrow morning i've got a 6:05 AM flight to the Motor City and then a 45 minute drive to the center at Wixom .I'll try get our members as much info and pics as time will allow .I've been to the center before and trust me kids its as much fun as you can have .As always ClassRacer.COM is there for you ..........later.

Good morning gang - Yesterday started off terrible as when I arrived at the airport things looked normal but went downhill fast .As i waited for the boarding call this announcement came over - "we will not be boarding at this time and technicians have been called to fix a small problem".In my mind there is no such thing as a small problem in a plane but they did "fix" it and got me on my way .

Landing and getting on my merry way I arrived at the Performance Center only to find out because I was late - the place is like Fort Knox - locked tight as a drum and I couldn't get in .After some calls and texts I gained entry and joined the group finally. You folks know me - always some drama attached somehow - it just follows me .

The morning flew by with Roger Allen speaking on behalf of General Motors Racing .He spoke about new combinations for 2014 and what their goals were for the coming season .Exciting stuff is on the way - stay tuned .

After some lunch the reps from Holley EFI spent several hours with us working with their new system and showing everyone its new capabilities - this product can do things you wouldn't believe .

After a short break we toured the famed "Chevrolet Skunkworks" -places we've only heard about - where all the parts and pieces are born that go into our race machines .I'd love to tell you I got shots of everything I saw but no way - cameras not allowed in that area.

We then moved on to the Dyno area for a demonstration - they had a new COPO engine set up and ran it real time - would you believe it even can simulate burnouts and shifts .And in case you're thinking of having one of these babies in you shop - this one is one of four in the world - and it costs a mere 4 and a half million smackers. Not in my 2014 budget for sure .

Then it was back to touring - thev've got CNC machines all over the place - you'd be amazed what they can make out of a chunk of aluminum .

Today holds even more for us - back a little later .........

PS- No one told me about the famous snow squals in Michigan .

Cool Re: Live from the Chevrolet Performance Center - Wixom, MI

Today was a little less action packed - spent most of it with the Holley EFI people learning about their new EFI system. That stuff can really do some magic - now if I could only learn to master it .A big well done goes to Robin Lawrence and Tom Kise of Holley who did their very best teaching us all they could and answering all of our questions both days .

Also big thanks go out to General Motors aces Robin Wright and Russ O'Blenes for their hospitality this weekend - they both along with the rest of the Generals team tried their best to make us feel welcome .

Before leaving this afternoon all of us got together for a group photo alongside the first 2014 Camaro COPO 350 Supercharged prototype .Sorry guys but the light behind the car ruined the shot .

All in all a fun weekend ........And Pomona is just around the corner ! ! ! Come on Spring .

I agree. This really was a worthwhile trip. It has me wishing that the first race was next weekend!

Good to see you again Jack.
