There are quite a few 318 SS cars running around the US. The first 318 4v was in 1978 in a Volare/Aspen. You could go through the different year combos (and different factors) to see which one fits the Duster the best.

We LOVE and race 318 Mopars. However, The 71 340 High Compression engine @ 279 and
72 340 Low Compression @262 in SS are way better than a 318 Low Compression @ 250 or 254 in our opinion for your Duster. E mail us if you need any more about these combos. |

im confued trying to figure out what class I would be. do i take the GT horsepower of that year 318 and divied it by the shipping weight of the 71 duster. this is confusing LOL

why do you want to run a 318? if the 340 is a better engine for hp rating, it seems you should look into that combo.

Not a big diff in horsepower 318 vs 340 go with the 340.
