We are in the only handicapped parking area in the rest area about 50 miles south of Effingham. Glad I brought that card. 700 miles today, 225 to the turnoff at Manhatten and then to the track. Kevin is in the 50's up there. Myself, wife, dog 1, dog 2, beer 4, and so it goes. See yall tomorrow.

well we made it thru the night without any rain or thunderstorms, but it is looking very rainy at the moment. They should be starting to move us in very shortly. I thought they might start earlier since it is calling for rain all day, but it doesn't look like they are. It was very quiet out here in line all night with a nice breeze so you didn't have to run the AC. We have tech today after we get in and parked, so I will try to get some pics then. It was great to see Mike and Paula Cotten last night. Paula is sporting a whole new look this year! She looks great!

More later. It really doesn't look like a whole lot of people arrived during the night unless they put them somewhere else.

Oh, BTW, be sure and come in on Laraway Road. It is marked out on Route 53 for the Racers with arrows, but in case the sign has blown down, come on in on Laraway. That is at the light.

Who's parked the farthest from the starting line ? I feel bad that a lot of people have to park over by the round track have to use a lot of fuel just to get up to the starting line. Thanks Larry and Patsy for your updates and photos you guys do great !

I know this is easy for me to say sitting home and reading about the situation there but its UNACCEPTABLE !

Well about 2:30 this afternoon (Friday, BTW), we realized that we are done until next Thursday with racing! So what do we do?? Eat and drink, of course! We went over across from the track to Mr. B's and here are some pictures from there. We beat the rain and stayed until after it finished raining. Pros are running now.


This was the losers table except for Kevin. He is still in in both stock and super stock. This is Joey Teuton, Kevin Helms, Carolyn and Jeff Teuton.

I think the Joliet city commission is missing out on a real opportunity to have a "Cruise In" on the route from the sportsman pits to staging. Bring in some Cotten Candy trailers, a portable stage and some 50's bands and line the route with lawn chairs. And don't forget some carny rides including the tilt-a-whirl.
