The simple truth is wheelie bars provide safety to racers and staff and simple little notches to the rear valance pose no threat to anyone.

I'm not spinning anything, except tires.

I'm not arguing here. However, I have driven several 9 second stockers, that 60' in the 1.2's, without wheelie bars, and the last thing in my mind was how "unsafe" they were.

I agree about the notches, that's ridiculous. If you are going to allow a car to have wheelie bars, then why limit the manner in which they are installed??

One flat tighter on the knob on the top of the shock.

Was the A car one of the new purpose built factory race cars with all the trick stuff? Maybe a pound or two heavy? How do you think that suspension compares to a 70's Challenger? Also it's not how you feel as far as safety is concerned. It's how safe is the vehicle you are racing.

I didn't see it on any of the divisional pages. Beyond the folks who frequent this forum, and the people who have been talked to directly by NHRA officials, how is this handled?
Anyone else care to answer this question since I appear to be on the ignore list now? Thanks...

Against my better judgement and because I've received both NHRA letters I'll answer .First , you probably won't see anything on the division websites as the number of racers affected is small .Second , if you are affected by this change you would surely hear about it at the races - it doesn't take effect till almost Indy - that's almost three months- certainly most who would need these notches would go to a national or divisional race and be told of the changes by the tech staff .Third , there are forums such as this one where the changes are made public and discussed .

You may or may not have noticed I posted a copy of my letter a few weeks ago and that really brought things out into the open .

Almost forgot- it is being discussed by the SRAC with NHRA officials .

Thanks for the clarification Jack. I wasn't sure how the process worked on something like this.
