Would have been way cooler to build a CADILLAC engine with the aftermarket alum heads. The 500 Cadillac has a 5 inch bore spacing stock and makes unbelievable torque. My buddy entered one in Eng Masters, but the machinist of the group lowered oil pressure (a no,no w a cross drilled crank just like a 455 Pontiac), and they lost bearings. It was making 535TQ in the 3000 RPM range and ramping up.

Lynn, I agree but I had as much Cadillac stuff in my Oldsmobile shop as you probably do in your Pontiac shop. It came with an olds V/8 so all the mounts, ac,ps,alt, brackets throttle linkage and hoses were a perfect fit. Not to mention big tube headers from a G body practically bolted on.

Danny, you built that car? I swear that I saw that car run at Cecil County. It was probably in November around 2005 or 2006. We hadn't had enough racing for the year, and all the tracks in New England were closed, so my father and I loaded up the bracket car and went to Cecil. Doc Horn met us there. I was in line waiting for a time trial, and that Caddy pulled out. The track manager and one of his tech men were standing just in front of me. They knew that car was going to put on a show. They commented to each other about how good it sounded and ran, etc. The track manager told the tech man that he had to throw the driver out, because of no roll bar. They were pretty cool about it. Just told the driver to load up and go home. The driver said he knew, and drove away with a big smile on his face.

Greg, Yes, that picture was taken in my garage in around 1998. I'm sure that was Sonny's car, his home and shop were in Washington DC and Cecil County is in his back yard. He has property in California and spends time on both coasts and takes the old car with him. Driving away with a big smile on his face would definately be Sonny :-)
