I wish I could track down either of those cars. I would love to have them back. The Barracuda was put back on the street and is probably still around Little Rock somewhere. I believe dad sold the Valiant to someone in Ohio. He didn't tell me exactly where because I was so mad at him for selling it.

You have great vision. That would be "Super Grog".

I remember that day. That's my dad leaning in on the passenger side of the car. If memory serves me correctly, we got our butt kicked in class eliminations by Marv Ripes.

You have any pics of the Valiant you could post?
I always thought that was one of the coolest cars ever. That is the time when I began to understand the art of building to the class, not necessarily to be the fastest car at the track.

I do. Charlie, I am heading out of town for a few days. When I get back I'll scan them and send them to you. Send me a PM with your e mail address.

I'll see if I can find the 1969 National Records.

We were there, with a 1967 Barracuda Fastback 273/235 HP classed in K/S.

And one our friends brought out his 1967 Barracuda Fastback 383/280 HP to run in H/SA.

Nobody could believe the 383 could be classed there.

We set the N/SA record in the spring of 69 at LaPlace , LA. 14.15
I still have the certificate. We loved that place. The little 2bbl 273 would fly at those sea level tracks.
