I hate to say it, but if it was an NHRA race, at the same track on the same weekend, it would be packed. Some guys just won't go to an IHRA race. Their loss... IHRA runs a good program.

as much as it pains me to say this after being such a long time public supporter of IHRA, we too are losing faith in the organization's ability to sustain, so much so that we have not renewed our expired memberships the beginning of the end for us was their decision to drop division 5 for the second time in this decade

I remember us discussing this very subject a few months back before your unfortunate health battle. Glad to see you up and around. I am more than a little concerned about IHRA myself. Haven't worked on my crate car since about last May or so. I may just end up selling off my crate motor stuff to the local bracket racers. Use the money to finish the refurb my old bracket car.

While the Super Stock turnout was extremely low, I'm not sure where people are getting "three cars" from. DRC shows 6 on Saturday and 8 on Sunday, Stock was 29 and 26.

At least 6 cars on Saturday and 8 on Sunday is better than the ADRL last weekend at Z-Max. They only had 4 cars show up for their well publicized SuperCar Showdown.

That was Friday. They had an odd schedule there, with a qualifying run Friday night, and then the 2nd qualifying run Saturday night. More cars showed up on Saturday.

Myron, does it work the same way for no box? Or would I have to attend the bracket finals? I guess what I'm asking is can I race no box sat for a shot at the no box toc?

Cody,
I haven't really followed the Summit Super Series rules, but the fields are set for the bracket cars. Using a completely different format, I believe they were determined at the respective divisional ET finals after racers ran for points on a local level at their "home" track. But they won't have any other bracket cars at this particular Sportsman Spectacular anyway because the time is needed for the ET finalists. Ed, They prefer to call it a "re-enty" round. The first round losers can run each other and then the winners can proceed to the regular 2nd round. It's not an automatic buy-back. You have to work for it. This is only in effect if there are less than 64 cars. 64 or more = no re-entry. This is basically so they don't lose their butt while trying to provide a decent payout. A guaranteed $5,000 + contingency for $200 entry is pretty good in my book. Unfortunately, IHRA still got burned bad at San Antonio because very few cars showed up! But they paid.
