I know a lot of members think Erica Daddy funds her racing team ,but she has a sponsor just like a lot of the pro stock teams have.KLR Group has offices in New York and Houston and is a full service investment firm and merchant bank that provide capital to oil, gas, metal, mining and agriculture.

The thing that bothers me is if Erica wasn't a pretty girl, she wouldn't have gotten a ride in the first place. She surely didn't get it based on mechanical ability as others have. I guess that's the way pros are, you have to have loads of money or be "marketable".

Ask yourself this, would she have got that ride if she was 40 lbs. heavier and was not real nice looking? I think not. She's very "marketable". There are literally hundreds of racers that could drive that car just as well but don't have the "marketable good looks" to gain good sponsors, or the bucks to pay for it.

Are you so hung up on looks???

If she was 40lbs. heavier and not good looking, she would still be driving because of the sponsorship.

I know many are throwing barbs at Erica, however, I have not heard a comment about Courtney Force's win...by the way, she is also a girl, good looking, Daddy has lots of $$$...and she does not turn a wrench either...

Not me, but I guarantee some of the sponsors are. Companies are looking for a marketable image for their product. If you think they are going to want their image to be a guy in his 50's with a beer belly, you're fooling yourself.

Dead on, Jim. Case in point: 2011. Fram/Prestone drops (forces Don Schumacher to drop) grey-haired 40+ Cory McClenathan for young, hip, marketable 20-something Spencer Massey.

It is just amazing how narrow minded some people can be!

So since Erica does not wrench the car she drives, does it make it her less of a driver?

So let's take it from a different angle...

How many women are racing in the Sportsman classes that do not wrench the car they drive?

Does it make them less of a driver???

How many of the posters have the mechanical ability and knowledge to setup a clutch, suspension or even tune a Pro Stock car or even type a message on this board without spelling errors?

Let's not forget that Greg's operation has at least a few engineer's in addition to the crew assisting them... and let's not forget how much he brought with him after he left WJ's team...

Does anyone remember Alderman or Geofrion? (sp) Neither of those guys could put gas in a car but they were pretty good drivers. It's apparent some just don't like a woman doing well.
