Ken, I am the one that reported that. The reason I did was because that is what was told me by an nhra official. I was getting my super gas car ready for my second time run when I was told to head to the lanes. I said I thought stock was to run before us. That's when I was told why they got moved. The car that hit the wall was a super gas car that broke an axle. That happened after stock should have been running. Not stepping on anyone's toes, I drive a car in stock and super stock at times and there are quite a few racers that drag their feet getting to the lanes with no regard to the overall program. Like someone else stated, playing the ladder game during qualifying and wanting to get a read on if the conditions are fast or slow during eliminations. After about the 3rd time calling a class to the lanes, close the back of the lanes and let the ones there make their run. That might put an end to it. It's one thing if they are hot lapping and someone races in two classes that they may be late, but some of it is rediculus.

With all do respect Chuck, we will have to agree to disagree. Stock was called to the lanes late, it was a cold morning. What ever the official told you was his opinion and not fact. Not sure what track you were at, but there was a lot of down time with oil downs and accidents. Stock being late to the lanes was not the reason. I know many of you are upset with the practice of coming to the lanes late, its been done for decades, its part of racing. It does not bother me one way or the other, last first or in between.

Lets keep this thread a live report, not what a racer likes or dislike. You have two reports, mine and Chuck’s, decide for yourself on what happened. You would think more people would be interested in the mishap Randy Wilkes had than arguing about being late to the lanes.... go figure.

I did get a chance to talk to Randy for anyone who is interested. The car only scraped the nose, he did a great job of not hitting me or the wall hard. Randy had a wheel cylinder seize up.

James this was for a time trial not eliminations and it really doesn't matter what it was for. When you are called to the lanes you need to go. I've waited for my guy to run and been the last pair and he comes around the corner and jumps out and has to check his tires, put on his pants and jacket, this after every other car has gone down the track. It's rude and the sanctioning body shouldn't allow it. Occasionally someone may be working to fix a problem, but most of the time it's just a racer trying to gain a perceived advantage.

They have 4 lanes there. Why is there any downtime for oildowns? Move the cars to two other lanes and continue with time trials/racing. I thought that was a big reason for the four wide.

Texas Rangers, those Rose Color Glass also lets me see you are from the Indy area, not Texas as you claim in your profile. One word of advice, when you post on the internet you are no longer are anonymous. Whether you use your real name or not makes no difference, your ip can be traced right to your home.

If you have a problem with me or my friends feel free to express them to my face at the race track. I have been through this with you before for, please give it a rest. Oh yes.... thanks for stopping by.

I would like to keep this thread as a live report, but if members wish to talk about racers that are late to the staging lanes that's fine also. I will suspend my live reporting as of now and the members can take the thread were the wish... enjoy.

Looks like 4 wide is too many lanes to keep up the pro cars can barely make it down

Ken - Please keep this a live report. Let those who wish to discuss staging lane practices start another thread elsewhere. Thanks.
