The problem wasn't with the racers withdrawing, it was NHRA's policy not to allow other racers to get into the race with slots still open because of a school yard type policy. A participating member of the NHRA, even having only one grade point, should be qualified to enter any National event if there are openings in the field. NHRA's policy that was changed, kept racers from being considered to particapate in races that had openings in the field. That is what this link is about, not the withdrawls, but the NHRA's policy!
I happened to be one of those racers looking from the outside in, and I'm still pissed about it.
