It also didn't have a Dana 60 rear!

Was this car raced as a Pro Stock by Dick Harrell?

But it's performance WAS impressive in IT'S day and although I don't consider it a collectable car per se it IS a historical car and worthy of a place in someones collection.

Billy, WAS is correct and many of these cars like this one aren't exactly the car they are represented to be as well many of the "collectors" buying the cars are "investors/speculators"

As per the Truppi-Kling Chevelle that turned out to be a shell of its former self but dressed like a prom queen. To this day it boggles the mind the number that was payed for that car and that car was one of my all time favorites.

yea what did that sell for 1.2 mil IIRC. Same thing happens when you buy concert tickets to see a well known band for the 60s, 70;s and 80's only to find out once they are on stage that 1 member of the band is original from back in the day.

Ed, I don't know what you're getting at. Most "investors/speculators" have these cars checked out before the sale. I know as well as they do, I'm sure, that, at best, only parts of these cars are real. But they are providing a service to our sport/ hobby by helping to preserve these cars.

not getting at anything, just stating my opinion based on what I've seen and read over many years, that many of these cars are a shadow of the original campained car and I don't see investors that buy them as doing a service rather I see them driving up the cost of these cars making them a commodity. That said, and originality aside I'd also be very surprised if that car could run anywhere near it former record holding performance of 9.63 seconds at 143 mph as it is today.

Thumbs up Re: Dick Harrells 69 ZL1

Billy is correct! Us old farts appreciate the fact that these cars are being "restored" cause we remember when they ran.

You had to live the days of the "Muscle Car" era to really appreciate what it was. The new cars are impressive, but how many 20-30 year olds can buy them? How many of us old farts can afford to buy them? The 20-30 year olds are buying the "feriners" stuff.

The 20-30 years old could afford the "Muscle Cars" of the era and bought them by the truckload! I am glad that I grew up in the era and was fortunate enough to buy 3 of 'em new off the show room floor!

Keep findin' 'em and keep restorin' 'em! Please!
