That's always been the way it works...if nothing else it encourages participation in Divisionals and NO's to get grade points. Jennifer Gregg and all the staff who assist us with entries, grade points, etc do a great job and work by the rules given them. There are numerous threads about this very topic, undoubtedly NHRA didn't set the quotas correctly by relying on prior year participation only but at this point it is what it is....they aren't going to undermine the grade point system.

An just HOW does allowing a normal grade progression after admitting their stupidity "undermine the grade point system".?????? They increased the quota from a ridiculously low 50 to 80, still low for a class elimination race. Did they really think that there were 30 guys out there with 4+ grade points just clamoring to get into the Gators? Increase the quota by 62% and not allow the guys with 3 points, or two point into the event? Just what are those guys being punished for? Exactly how does that encourage participation in the divisionals? This is abject stupidity, plain and simple. I defies all logic if the NHRA has ANY respect or interest in supporting their members who choose to run Super Stock and want to participate in one of the very few events that offer class run-offs.

I think it was a false gesture, they knew there wouldn't be that many grade 4's. Now they can a) say "we upped the quota and no one showed" and b) they don't have to redo the parking plan.

It is very hard to get excited about running NHRA when they have rules like this. I dont understand why they care who comes to the event as long as the quota has not been met. I am fine with the quota's and I am even fine with the step down of grade points. I think that makes a lot of sense. However to keep the grade point at 4 after raising a quota that was wrong in the first place. Makes no sense to me. Some of you guys say you need to support NHRA more. I went to 3 NHRA Divisionals and 3 NHRA National Events last year. I also went to 8 IHRA Pro-ams (in 2 classes) and the Sportsmans Spectacular in Virginia. I used every single day of vacation I had for racing. Sorry guys thats the best I can do.

That is not the way it has worked in the past. I know that first hand.
They posted that was the way it was going to work then changed it as soon as they realized it was going to cost them money.
I hate to seem like a cry baby on this one but I got screwed a couple of years ago at Indy when they posted those rules and didn't go by them. And now I feel I'm getting screwed by them enforcing them.
Litterally damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Right now I'm sitting in Nassau Bahamas. So I won't be calling them till Friday, by then Maybe I will cool down a bit.
