Lightbulb Re: Team Mopar Records Unofficial Fastest Pass in Pro Stock

When they go through NHRA tech, fuel, weight, and the spoiler and templant system, then run that fast I will believe it!

I have always wondered why they go out and waste precious - valuable - testing time by running illegal just to make themselves feel good - then have to change the whole car back to legal - not sure what they learn by running hot fuel or running light - weight distribution is a big deal - different body which would not pass the template test - a wing that is applying incorrect down force

Just does not make sense to me but you guys on here probably know it all better than I do

:-) peace

Simple, exposure for the sponsor and mental intercourse for the competition. I'm sure the body would pass tech but fuel and weight are another issue.

Please help me, does no one know where Pro Stock came from. The very cars run today as Super Stockers were the "Pro Stocker" of the early 70's. The Dusters, Cudas. Camaros and Mustangs. Ed I agree with your comments completely. It is simply amazing how these cars can go down a track at the ETs they run with pistons, fuel and carbs. Talking with guys like Allen Johnson and how they make those things tick is like talking with Jenkins, Jake King or Hubert Platt years ago. When you look at a heads up Pro Stock race and at the stripe there is 3" different. Come on guys is there always something wrong with everything anyone does especially if it is a MOPAR. That complaining has been going on for over 40 years, I know from experience.

OK that explains it - the sponsors are anxious to get ink from a test session - I would think the team would rather make advances to get ready to show off on ESPN at Pomona

Oh well I am not to old to learn new stuff about why the Pro Stock teams test before Pomona - and you are probably right - I am sure these numbers really got into the heads of Greg, Jason, Mike and the others

Good night

Yep! Mike Edwards has no idea what a soft tune up is. 0.982 sixty on the first pass and 168mph to the eighth. His car was moving on both ends. Looks like everyone else was a lil soft, undergeared, or too aggressive in the first round.

Then Jason Line knocked him down to 2nd by a hundredth.

Last night the announcer said Alan Johnson has run extremely fast in pre-season testing before then appeared to struggle to match it when the season starts.
