Paul
They started using the 1962 Chysler 300 H 3258 and 3259 AFB carbs right away. Having all 3 sets of legal carbs in my possession. I can see why they made the change. As my car is all but finished. I will post a pick of a "modern" 383 343hp engine compartment. Last edited by Paul Wong; 01-12-2012 at 06:36 PM. |

Let's see, I see old school 'white painted' fenderwell headers as well as the short velocity stacks on the carb...just curious but I wonder if any of these old racers got away with any 'hidden tricks' that they used on these 383/343 hp engine combo's...as for the intake manifolds, did they ever cast any in 'magnesium' paint'em and try to get away with it back then, lol.

Moose,
You're always digging,,,,,,,,,, ![]() 1970, The 62' 383/343 HP Plymouth Belvedere Station Wagons were lighter than the 62' Dodge Model #440's. The Plymouth Wagons ran in G/SA in 1970 and 1971, with the 340 Mopars. Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 01-12-2012 at 11:09 PM. |

E.B.
The #3258 Carter AFB has a bigger Secondary Venturi than the #2790 Carter AFB. 1.250" versus 1.125" I'll check on the jet sizes and other specifications. Both were rated at 500 CFM,,, By the way, Joe Kenney (August 9, 1964) was classed in B/SA with a 61' Plymouth 413........ Won B/SA Class @ Dover Drag Strip with a 13.91. |
