I remember going rounds when Memphis had their national event during the summer months. I would take as cold of a shower as I possibly could between every round on sunday. 49% of me was hoping I would lose every time I pulled up to race. Completely miserable. Never experienced that before.

You guys need to get out of the office a little more, turn your a/c's down a notch maybe even ride with your car window down instead of the thermostat set at 68. Geez I didn't realize that Memphis had turned into a desert since the last time I was there.

Sometime around the late 90's I was racing in Montgomery and it was 110 degrees. We had to sit in my van with the A/C on to survive. My buddies little motorhome A/C did not work and he had a small leak in his waste tank that created a foul smell. Well we were cooking burgers on this little grill and the smoke from them was just pouring off of them. They looked really juicy and tempting. We would sit in the van and then rush outside to flip them. Only problem was even though they should have smelled really good, it was the smell from the waste tank that was prevalent. Just could not get over that, tasty burgers with a hint of sh**

I know this has nothing to do with the heat, but it was the first thing that entered my mind. Oh, and by the way I live in FL, it is always hot, 95 degrees is the norm. I do not mind the heat as it forces women to dress scantily.

Ron, you just mentioned one of the perks to living here in Phoenix, and it's practically a year round pleasure too!

When racing under such hot conditions, I always bring up to a case of spring water chilled in a big cooler and constantly drink even if I'm not thirsty. You can sweat without realizing it because it evaporates quick. But I have sought refuge in my truck with A/C on many occasions as well. Plan as if it's a beach trip.

truth is if you don't want to go you can always find an excuse not to go. I am just thankful we have a choice and a place to race.
