Tracks here use those camaeras. I saw a racer fuss one night that there was no way his car backed out of the beams and went red. The track op took him in the back and replayed the tape. Racer left scratching his head but not fussing.

Jack,
You have let the cat out of the bag. It is a secret weapon, but only for the "new" cars. You see the camera on the tree is synced with the one on the starting line, they in turn read the reaction times and also note if you have spoilers and such hanging down. This information is fed to the computers in the CJ's and Drag Paks. They also pick up on the same readings of the "old" car that is in the race and feed that cars info also. The camera at half track monitors the progress and will feed this into the CJ's and Drag Paks so that it can increase power or decrease it just so they stay ahead of the "older" car that is in the race. The final camera is just for conformation purposes and the drivers of the "new" cars get to down load a pic of them ahead of the "old" car when they check their data. Mystery solved.

Easypass, while it will be available for use at a rental fee of $30 per weekend or $1800 per year, you can race without it. All you have to do is put your 75cents in the machine that will be installed in the burnout box. You don't pay, the tree won't come down. Other enhancements coming are parking meters in the pits. ($2.00 per hour, max $50 per day, 3 day pre-pay of $200.00) |

It's for ordering lunch! Just hold up a piece of paper with your order and it will be ready when you pick up your time slip. They just haven't put the clown suit on it yet.
