Buy-backs: drag racing's version of NASCAR's Lucky Dog.

Stupidest one I have ever seen. The track decided at the last minute to have buy backs. First round had already run when they decided this. So they ran second round then the people that bought back in went straight to the third round. Buy back was $25 race paid $30 to third round looser. So if you lost First round they basically paid you $5 to try again. If you won first and lost second you were sol.
Personally I can’t stand them. I understand why tracks do it but I would much rather see the second chance races that some tracks do.

There was a track and/or race once I read about that had a "wildcard" buy back. You could buy-back at ANY time during the event. So, say you and I raced in the final. Neither one of us had used our BB. If I won, you'd buyback, and we'd re-run. If you won, I could buy-back and we'd re-run again. The winner of the third race would be the winner.

That might have been the worst idea ever.

All of this buy back/mulligan crap is a bad idea. If you get beat......Go home or watch the races !

Depends on the track really. At Indy all buy backs run each other in 2nd round and then 3rd round it's one big group again. Some tracks you buy back and you get right back into the group, they don't separate buy backs. Also there are some tracks that have buy backs first and second round (which is dumb)

Buy backs i have gotten used to but, I dislike the Mulligan crap. Dennis i was there at Lyons for Mulligan night but never again lol , making it to the semi's and having someone using a mulligan to make it quarters again and the deciding factor that you get money or not is really dumb.

Personaly I never run when there are buybacks good part of why I went to stock. But lets be fair If you are going to do it why is it ok to screw up and get a do over in the first round only? If you are going to do it every one should get one if they choose to in any round. I shouldn't be penelized for screwing up later than some one else.

Now with that said dragracing is supposed to be two go down one comes back till you run out of cars.
