I think the guy that knows how to take his Q-Jet, T-Quad, Holley or any other carb and adjust it for conditions while at the track has the fastest carb.
I've watched guys not touch their $500+ carb because only the zen master is allowed to change jets, metering rods or any other re-calibration. I think any one of the guys mentioned offers a great product but if a dunce is operating the car, nothing can be said about the carb.

I use Ashley and he is great to work with. But one thing to keep in mind is that with most carbs, what you start with directly impacts what you end up with. There are good cores and not so good cores. The builders listed above are great at enhancing a q-jet for performance. But if you have a bad carb, not much can be done to make it perform like a good carb. From what I've been told, it's all about the top, not the body or base plate.

WOW Q-Jets....
I have a Bobby Warren and WA Lee Carbs Sent the Warren Carb to Val Headworth... It got the royal blueprint treatment with new air bleeds, and internal components. I know it works well Budd Rowe borrowed it for a buddies 74 Nova. Still trying to get my 69 Impala out of the Resto Shop. Hopefully the year will generate enough money to get it finished. |

I used to do Q-Jets also but as I am really a MoPar guy I decided to concentrate on the Carter TQ as there were very limited builder outlets for racers. That said, I have seen examples of most of the "good" Q-Jet builders out there and I have to say I would lean towards Ashley for the Stock/ Super Stock combos in general. I have seen several back to back tests and his seem to come out on the winning end. Danny's drivability, in my opinion, is better. Once again this is just my opinion, for what it's worth. Jim

I don't use a carb, but have worked with Dean Oliver on some data logging and wide band O2 projects and I sure am impressed with his knowledge. Nice guy too.
