brakes failed due to a pin coming out brake pedal to the rod going to the master cyl. yes you can not use the existing lines. if you put dual calipers on the back and a seperate master cyl. with there own lines.

Here's a link to a diagram to plumb a staging hand brake which is common in pro stock for staging but could also provide braking if the linkage in the foot operated master cylinder failed

But as you say it may not be legal also a second master cylinder plumbed this way won't help if you have a line or caliper failure. For that you would need a complete separate system
Check with CNC they could provide you with better info than I.

The system you are asking about has dual caliper plates (i believe S and W race cars sells them) with 2 separate master cylinders and 4 wheel cylinders. one system operated by foot and one by hand. Short of losing the actual mounting plate or rotor on the rear end, any individual part failure on one system - M/C rod or brake line or W/C piston, etc you will still have a complete system to stop the vehicle
