Default Re: "Live" from Earlville, IA, Division 5 Lucas Oil race

Well for as well as Larry hooked every run up to first round of eliminations, it was that bad for Round 1. We went from a 1.33 in 60' this morning to a 1.43 this afternoon, so needless to say we couldn't run our number. Lots of people spun, even Mike Cotten in his super stock car with 14" slicks. We were more than a little disappointed in the track prep after it got hot this afternoon.

We still stayed for the evening and cooked a big pot of chili and enjoyed the meal with friends. But it would have been more fun, if we were still going to be racing tomorrow. We are getting loaded up tonight and leaving out early in the morning. I will post the pictures I made after I get home.

Andy has had the worst luck lately

After getting over INDY - he lost with a .003 light (missed the dial)

He heads to Earlville - 3 perfect runs 9.69, 9.71, 9.68 - .028, .016, .006 lights

Call to first round - car develops bad miss (absolutely no previous hint of a problem)

Electronic - nothing to be done

All we forgot on this 5000 mile $5000 trip was- any good LUCK at all

I hate people saying at least you were there - at least you tried

Sorry - disappointment is the feeling of dissatisfaction that follows the failure of expectations to manifest

:-) peace

Well we are on our way home from a very enjoyable trip except for Round 1 loss. I will post my pics after we get home. It is funny how much better these cornfields looked on the way to Earlville with the anticipation than they do on the way home with disappointment!

Go Paula, go! We're pulling for you

Thumbs up Re: "Live" from Earlville, IA, Division 5 Lucas Oil race

Just got home Earlville. Some great racing. I saw 4 perfectly Strange round wins.
Trista Henderson. Rob Turkal. ( Ran right on twice en route to his Runner up Finish) and Speer, driving the Koppien Racing Nova in BSA on the way to his win!

Turkal rowed his H/Stick 80 Camaro through some heavy traffic including Nick Folk. Speer was .000 Green in the final!

If you haven't been to Tri State you need to add it to your list! Great facility! Run well too.

Very seldom will a miss be caused by the electronics. Start looking for it as you would if it had a carb.

Thanks for the tip Ed

We had a leaking spark plug wire on the dyno once - had some kind of a nick in the insulation

Acted a lot like this but ....

May be a stuck injector this time from all of the fowl Andy killed shooting ducks

I was told by some of the faster solid axle cars of a big bump in the right lane. I looked and saw it on my Racepak shock and driveshaft sensors. I was not happy with the starting line this year, I averaged 1.26 - 1.27 60 foots at Indy, was 1.31's here in much better weather. However, it is a great place to race! The people are wonderful and are happy to see you, they treat you with respect and are a model track for the NHRA. See you next year. Dyno
