With the closing of Barry Grant, (popular fuel pump of sportsman racers), finding a good alternative has been a question of many people. Who has a reliable pump, that can be used with multiple fuel types, pays contingency, and will NOT FAIL! The answer is WELDON!
I had the same problem as many, my BG400 fuel pump started to leak, I took it out and borrowed a fuel pump to finish the race (Maple Grove Divisional) and ended in a Runner Up finish. I went home and bought a seal replacement kit from a company on Ebay that claims to have original Barry Grant seal kits. I bought them, replaced them, installed the pump on my car, and went racing. In Epping divisional,3rd round I was shut off in the water box for the fuel pump leaking ..... after a long aggrivating ride home, I decided to get a new pump and avoid this happening ever again. After some research I came to the decision that Weldon would be the pump for me, the following is the reason I picked Weldon: 1) it bolts direct into the same bolt locations as the BG400 2) it is able to handle ANY type of fuel (gas, methanol, e85, ect.) 3) they pay contingency 4) the pumps that we get are designed for the US millitary (which can NOT FAIL) 5) the pump has a LIFETIME WARRANTY ...... thats right LIFETIME WARRANTY At the first race I went to with my new fuel system, (Atco Divisional) the car ran flawlessly, in face flawlessly enough to make it back to the finals once again .... Another runner up finish, no leaks, no problems, and just a DAM GOOD PUMP. I am not a rep, and not anyway offiliated with weldon, just a fellow racer that is excited to see someone step up to the plate and hit a home run with race products designed for the sportsman racer in mind. So spread the word .... want to get a new fuel pump with all the bells and whistles, WELDON is the way to go ...... http://www.weldonracing.com Last edited by sc1153; 08-13-2011 at 07:56 PM. |

We run the DB2025A and it works great. It's not quiet, but works like a charm.

I bought an old drag radial car in '04 that had a weldon pump on it. I ran the car ALOT from '05 til -'10. Traded the car to a friend and it still has the same pump on it now. That thing was/is flawless. If I buy another electric, Weldon will be getting my money.

Chris -- we have used Weldon pumps since day one on our TD and the Chevy II... loud as heck, but as the Weldon guys like to joke, that way you know it's working! Absolutely flawless performance, and the Weldon guys are great to work with.

When my daughter (frequent driver) got in the car the first time with that pump her comment was "is it always going to make that sound"?

Yeah ... I was warned that the pump is loud ... due to its tight tolerances and materials used. However I find the pump sound kinda cool .... it sounds like an airplane at cruising altitiude ... like a nice turbine sounding humm.
I am a weldon customer for life .... I suggest more do too. |

I've had a Weldon for over 10 years now...VERY reliable. Just make sure you have a filter on the inlet...the tolerance on the vanes is very tight, and the smallest particles will cause failure of the coupler (but it's very easy to repair!).

Loud ! Hell Race Cars are loud !
I bought mine (DB2025A) 3 years ago- my other brand was leaking Intermittently. I set it up with the help from the Weldon Guy's and never looked back. The last thing I worry about is my Fuel System ! Not to sound like I'm plugging Weldon but if they're good enough for the Military they're good enough for me and even with a lifetime warranty.

Chris , You are 100 % correct. Barry Grants products went down hill years ago. And when you sent it back for the "Free Testing" they would tell you it needed to be rebuilt. And I'm still waiting for Contingency payment from 2007. When you ask around who makes the best pump I always here Weldon. I just switch to the new Weldon Sportsman pump this week. ( Which has the same bolt pattern as BG pumps). Chris will be at the Cecil County D1 this weekend to see you and my D1 frends. Ronnie Siani
