Got to agree with Yac. ---Buddy had that Olds rockin'..I remember the 1977 Fallnationals in Seattle when Buddy, John Lingenfelter (Corvette) and Don Bowles (351 Mustang) showed up and made us all wonder why we were there..Those were the days!!!

I don't know about the best......but it was the most fun to watch, I stood at the start line @ Gainesville and seen it drag the rear bumper a time or two.
That would be the Olds that Dennis Ridgeway had........ I still tell him "You should have kept that car " lol Rick Bailey

Rick,
We're glad to have Dennis' car back. As I said, it may be the 2nd fastest SS/NA Olds in our garage, but because of the bumper dragging you referred to, it's easily the most fun to drive. Jerry |

My first thought on this was the Gunn/Biondo Olds as well. But then again, I'm NOT AS OLD AS SOME OF YOU GUYS!!!!
They're all good!!!

The Ingersoll Olds did belong to Jimmy Waibel before. Jimmy ran it in SS/O. I believe
Buddy took the car to Indy in 1976 knowing the HP had been hit for the 1971 Olds engine in his car. As I recall the story Ingersol had changed the trim to a 72 model and the same engine used a slightly smaller valve, which he had installed. So, even after the hit on the 71 he would have still been able to run SS/O. I think they put HP on the 72 combination on the spot in tech and told him he had to run SS/N. Now all of these "facts" could be out of whack since it was 35 years ago. But, maybe someone else may know something about that deal. |
