I would guess the non posters who follow this entertainment , fall into only a few different categories. 1, The high class , chaser guys who are keeping their mouths shut, knowing what a good deal they've got going for them. 2, The guys who see this as a fairness issue, and would like to see a change, but can't take the heat. They don't want to cause any more horse cartoons, etc. 3, There are even a few more, I suspect ,of the lower class racers who know this whole deal is inequitable to them , but think the present set up makes them a better driver, strange as that sounds... 4 , There's got to be a few with strong opinions, one way or the other ,but can't articulate them 5, Then of course ,there are the precious moderates who can't make up their minds. You know, like the ones who elected our current president, that couldn't figure out he was the farthest Left guy that ever ran for the office. Who did I miss? 341 posts now? Movin' on up !

most affected by this rule.I have no problem with it.He has a problem with it and he hasn't had a class car since Abe Lincoln was in office. And he himself says he never again will. He's been told to take it to the bracket racing section. But nooooooooooo, old Bill still has to ramrod this "unfair" rule up our collective a$$es. Jeff Lee told him about the discussion with an NHRA official and still this guy persists in pushing his agenda.I'm convinced it will only end when they pry the computor keyboard from his dead, cold hands.Enough is enough. I keep posting on this subjet for the entertainment value. Jack, the longest thread,I believe, was the one with Top Fool and Mr Raymond.

Don't change anything. The time to look for the guy in the other lane is when your car is in high gear, pointed straight and heading for the finish line.

Hi all,
I started a thread, September 2007, which talked about this issue between the first leaving car and the last leaving cars ability to red light.... The issue was somehow changed to be an AA/SA car vs. a U/SA car and not the original intent of the first leaving vs. the last car leaving... The race could be between an AA/SA car and an AA/S car with a dial in difference .05 of second.... They are both fast cars, just that there is a first leaving car and a last leaving car... Personal agendas still drive this discussion........ Bob

But my challenge to you was this, call NHRA and get above the receptionist and do your own digging. If you find somebody to return your call, plead your case. Put it in writing. Based on whom I spoke too, I'm confident you will hear the same thing I heard no matter who you speak to. And if by chance you get opposite results, by all means, take it to the next level. You can do that, right? You are an NHRA member, right? Because if your not, that maybe should be the first step in filing your grievance.

Jeff, are you familiar with the saying, "the fox is watching the chicken coop"? You wrote: "Because the guy red lit and eliminated himself from competition. He left before he was allowed to go." So, when would you see the other side of that coin; when the SECOND guy to go would red light and make it so the first guy to go never had a chance to red light?" Answer that, please. No more comments, just answer that question. If you can't, or won't, you join the ranks of the other posters on this board, who, when confronted with the unanswerable, logical, real-world questions that expose this one-sided rule for what it is, a "gimmee" for the second car to leave just ignore the question, like it never existed You have aligned yourself with people like the two Eds, who refuse to even acknowledge, much less answer the questions like "Who would be damaged by this "new" rule," or "Why shouldn't EVERYONE face the SAME red-light jeopardy, every time they come to the line?" And "Why should ANYONE enjoy the kind of immunity from red-light jeopardy that this First Red Light rule affords them?" You won't answer any of them, just like Fernandez and his namesake won't answer them, because you CAN'T without admiting that you're wrong. The soulution to this lopsided rule is to change the wording from "FIRST" (which a slower car has no control over) to WORSE, something that EVERYONE can contrrol... just like in breakouts. That's IT. Nothing else. Ask the genius at NHRA "WHO would be damaged with such a change?" He won't answer, either.... because the answer is NOBODY. The FINAL question is, why should this rule NOT be changed? A multitude of rhetoric from board members has filled this topic for weeks, but no answer to THAT question, from anyone. Just efforts to discredit people who post for an increase in fairness of the rules..... I really don't understand that. We all love drag racing. WHY shouldn't we ALL want it to be as fair as it can be?
