Re: Happy Anniversary
I was also among the fortunate few who were at Mission Raceway early that Sunday morning to witness Bobbys 9 second pass against Gary McCoy in the 1rst round of elimination. I also got to see the engine removed, teardown afterwards. My DeArmond 9 second T shirt is still in "N.O.S." condition, in its sealed plastic bag, Jeff.
Between getting to see racers from all over North America, attempting to be the first NHRA Stocker to run a sea level "9", or the first 8 second SS/AA (now SS/AH) Hemi car, and the "Hemi Shootouts" , Mission was THE place to be for a couple of years. I consider myself lucky to have Mission as my home track.
