If this lack of decal money for a class win is really true, this is a MONSTER kick in the balls to the nhra sportsman racer. No more need to spend the big money to make your car the fastest on the planet, (or at the event at hand) as you will no longer be recognized for spending that money. Can't be true, must be a big joke!! As Koski said, why race for a trophy and chance a teardown? You won't even get gasket money out of it....................
I have always believed the a win on Sunday is far more important than a class win on Friday. That being said, there are a bunch of racers out there who charish their class trophy more than their next breath. Next they will be taking that away and giving out a photocopied achievement award.

Don't ya just love all these enhancements??

For most, class money is only about $150 to $300,not like the glory days just over 10 years ago when you`d get over 1K.

This is for real. I've been bitching about it for a couple of months. They did take the trophies away for singles. (at Charlotte they saved 4 trophies) And I know of 4 cars that would have gone but didn't because of the no singles.
So bernie and glendora I hope you are pleased. nhra is moving farther and father from racing now it's a DVD of the month club.
I'm going to Calififornia in July I think I'll stop by nhra headquarters and tell them what they can do with their DVDs. I can't and won't say it on here.

Except when you get into the later rounds of eliminations and have a heads-up race. That's where it really counts.

Last time I won class I think I got $100. It was the first time I've ever won class in the Chevelle and I didn't care about the money. That class Wally is one of my most prized trophies. I'm definitely not a high roller, but to me there's not much difference between a class Wally and $100 and just a class Wally. But there's a huge difference between winning a heads-up race in the fourth or fifth round of eliminations and losing one.

Toby why do you bother with stock eliminator where you might have a headsup run?
Don't they have high dollar no electronic races out west. There is no chance of a heads up, no teardowns. It's cheaper to enter.
Toby I think guys like you count on the guys that have big egos and want to get all they can out of their cars. There is so much dedication you can have and to work on the car to go faster all the time takes some away from driving. Giving somewhat of an advantage to guys like you that concentrate 95% on the driving.
As far as the money goes last year I was able to make $750 for a class win (thanks to Mopar) . That paid for the entry fee and part of the traveling.

I think what happened in Las Vegas speaks for itself. Do I have to elaborate?

I've won my fair share of heads-up races over the years. I'd say just about half of them. Just ask all the people who thought they had an easy win and I snuck up on them and beat them.

Not many high dollar races out west. And there's nothing like winning a national event.

That's what it's all about isn't, Art? The gravy train has come to an end. No longer can you just show up and collect the easy participation money (as Bernie calls it.)

When was the last time you had a heads-up race in eliminations?

I love 'em so much, that it was worth it for me to travel 3k miles (round trip), to offer support to the westbound sanctioning body who's doesn't offer such enhancements. The only good I see in this new class racing format, is the practice with racing in nearly regular racing conditions, so as to envision what a regular race could be like. I'm looking forward even more so now to Father's Day Weekend, and Salt Lake City!

I was there for that one Charlie, and you can be proud that you gave it your best shot.
