An index at 330, 660, 1000, &1320 ft. will take care of "protect mode".

hell just using that data, and applying a standard deviation to the trap speed and using that in the AHFS would fix a lot

Ha! Are you kidding? That is waaaaaaaaaaay too much work for the NHRA! Hell, they won't even factor in the weather! Everything is simply black and white, don't confuse them with the facts! Jim

Thumbs up Re: What is "ProtectMode" ????

Show reaction time , 1/4 mile time & mph only.
And don't put out a qaulifying sheet til after final round qaulifying...
And use the hp factor system on 1/8 mile times "if need to be"......

How you like dat ??

Call it D W's get- r - done hp system.

The qualifying sheets would be done in the stands like they used to.
Different cars run the 1/8 mile differently. Even in the same class. High torque cars will do a lot better in the eight.
I do agree with taking out the 1000' clocks in eliminations though.

They run the 1/8th different, but you won't see tenths different there. Just a few hundreths.

Ed the other car in my class is 2 tenths slower in the 1/8. For the same quartermile ET. But he goes 5 or 6 mph faster than me. Both cars run very well and have been tested for years.
Big difference in cubes and weight.

Doing the sheets in the stands (some still do now ) would at least make it a lttle more aggrivating though.....
No matter what you do ,someone will still figure out a way to curve the system....
