I just love how some people brag about how fast they can go, but they never do. Then they talk smack about other people who have no choice but to protect their combination. Irony and hypocrisy, all rolled into one.
Alan if you are reffering to me.
I qualified number 1 at 4 nhra races in the last 2 years. Got an instant hit during that time, set 2 nhra records.
I have opted to wait and see this year so far. Still haven't heard a word about the "overall class champion" nonsense. So far one race and one major rule change.
I joke about people in protect mode. Because I doubt they can be having much fun, worrying about every run.
You can call me a lot of things but "hypocrite" isn't one of them.

No guilt. Just tired of arrows in the back.
You were on the bandwagon, for doing away with singles. Bernie stated that there would be double the payouts and a class win would be worth something.
Well the scooter bros didn't change there payout one bit. Most of the companies reduced their payouts for class wins.
But a lot of "jealous" folks are happy that a bunch of other cars won't be coming home with a trophy and a few dollars.

I assure you if Alan was launching arrows, they wouldn't be in your back. He's a pretty straight forward dude

Arrows in the back? Really?

Anyone will tell you, Art, I won't say anything behind your back, I'll say it to you.

Jealous? Really? We've got a couple of class Wally's, thanks.

I have a considerable amount of respect for you and your accomplishments. I actually like you, Art, but on this subject, I disagree with you, and I have zero tolerance for you talking down to the rest of us while you don't face what we do. Go out and build yourself another AA, A, or B car, Art, an older, traditional combination, and then come out and kill it, then maybe I'll give some measure of credibility to what you have to say about those of us who have to protect our combinations. Until then, I ain't buyin any of it, and I ain't takin the flack you want to toss around without speaking up.

However, you seem to want to talk down to guys like us, who have to race the new cars, and need to protect our combinations, telling us we're not racing, not having fun, and should show our hand. And then you go bragging about how far you can bomb your index, while admitting there is ONE other car in your class, in the whole country.

Well guess what, you don't face ANY of the new cars heads up. We, on the other hand, face MOST of them in the three classes we can run in Stock, and plenty of them in whatever classes we can run in Super Stock, with either car. Not only that, if we go out and get HP, we not only hurt ourselves, but also all of our friends who have the same combinations, and face the new cars heads up, just like we do.

So, yeah, I call it irony and hypocrisy, whether you like it or not. When you face good odds of losing an entire weekend to a heads up race you have no hope of winning, and you go out, run way under, and kill your combination anyway, then come back and talk down to the rest of us Art. But then, you only have ONE car in the nation to worry about heads up, according to you. So, I'm not seeing where you EVER face what we face.

Alan I wasn't talking down to you. I understand what you guys are going through with the new cars. But as long as these new cars are running them (not in protect mode) they will eventually settle down. This is not new I remember in the 70's you could go buy an Olds wagon. drive it to the track and run further under than our built for stock hemi. We had to run heads up with low factored, mid motored Corvettes.
Last year I laid back a bit because of a promise I made to someone. I have yet to enjoy racing in the "protect" mode. The only thing keeping me racing this year will be the overall class champion stuff. But it looks like that might be just another bunch of lies.
If you have to worry about going to fast on a qualifying pass it sucks. I had a lot of fun with my turbo dodges at the points meets till they hit me with the Artie Leong factor. It was no longer fun so I sold the car. I'm sorry you have to worry about going to fast, while knowing you aren't the fastest in the class. To me that would just suck.
And I'm not being nasty or sarcastic. But stating how I feel.
