Bo,

This is a good idea but I seriously doubt the NHRA would accept an underfactored GM product as long as Ford is the 'official' car.

A supercharged 572 with .800" lift rated @ 220 hp is nice to think about though.

GM finally gets knocked off of it's riding high in the saddle and preferential treatment and all of a sudden the sky is falling. The Bowtie gang, and the Fire Chicken supporters closed their ears when criticism was directed towards the NHRA over the bogus HP factors given to the LT1's and the combined GM's EFI combo's with Stock. This can of worms wasn't just recently opened with the Ford Mod Motors, or the Cobra Jet cars.

I look at it this way, GM took the bailout money after all those years of giving away millions of dollars, and they are still in the ***** house financially.

Ford chose not to take a dime of Oblama's money, and is now stronger than ever financially; and with Brian Wolfe again involved with Ford Racing, Ford is now back in Pro Stock, Nitro F/C, Super Stock/ Stock, and other sportsman classes.

For those who are making this a Ford/GM argument, Isn't this really what this is REALLY about ??? GM has taken a big ***** and it just digs in your krawl !!!I Guess you all could reach out to Oblama and have him get Eric Holder or one of his cronies involved from the Justice Department, and have them run the NHRA as well

You're missing the point. It's not about brand loyalty, it's about bogus horsepower ratings. Ask my good friend Verne Buchannon how he likes having to run the 5.9 Challengers heads up. For those of you who don't know Verne runs a 73 Mustang. My daily driver is a 2009 Ford Flex and I love it. I race a 71 Camaro. The guys that race GM cars would be just as pissed if the new Camaros were racing with these bogus factors. These new cars came out with hp ratings as much as 100hp too light and you think people who have been racing their cars for 20 plus years and working on their combinations shouldn't be complaining. Bull****. Ask the moderator, who is a big Ford man, how he feels about this now that he has had a chance to see what they're capable of.

Ah, I just deleted a long post. I'll sum it up so it won't be too inflamatory;
Not too many years ago I remember being on here (along with others) thinking how cool it would be for the factories to get involved in S&SS racing again. We had all kinds of great reasons for them to dump money back into our favorite sport, win on sunday/sell on monday, exposure/bragging rights for ad's. Oh it was going to be great.

Guess what. They did come back. Only they want ensure they get a good ROI so they ensure their cars are seen and seen winning. yes factors are a bit skewed..ok, a lot skewed, but since jumping back in, ford has continually made more and more racing parts available. Heck look at the street cars, as soon as chev announced that the 2012 camaro will be 550hp to beat the gt500's 525hp...ford announced the 2013 gt500 will have 600hp! That's 600HP!!!! With a warranty!! Available at any dealership!!!
Is the HP war on again? HELL YEAH! Chev has a 397hp diesel, ford puts out a 400hp. It's crazy.
You want to buy a drag car from the factory? Done.
You want to buy a body in white to build a dragcar? Done.
You want to buy the latest/greatest engine available? Done.

Yes heads up sucks if they're in the other lane. I feel for ya. It's not the racers fault for having a car that is slowly becoming obsolete. It's also not the racers fault for wanting to race a new car. Yes it is the *HRA's and the manufacturer's "fault", but look at it from their side for once and not only your own side.
Would you dump massive amount of time money and effort into something knowing that the only area you didn't put 100% was where it would count the most to get a ROI? Of course not.

At least they didn't just update the cutoff year! How much crying would there be if they said "20 year old cars maximum"?
The guide would start in 1990.
I'm just saying, it's not good, but it could be a hell of a lot worse.

(I thought this was going to be shorter??)
Now that is a post!

Oh!.... Oh!.... I see new classes coming!

AA/FUA (Factory Underrated) Automatic
A/FUA
B/FUA
C/FUA
D/FUA
E/FUA and so on.
All three companies will have enough new cars soon to fill several classes. Might be interesting! Jim

The 275 HP for my Firebird was dead honest. The problem is that the HP numbers in the book are factors not HP numbers.

This is the sort of thing that is indefensible! Purely a decision that was bought and paid for! Jim
