Also keep in mind that with the AutoFair right across the street you're going to see a ton of fans in the seats that more than likely would not drive up there just for the race. I think it'll be good for the facility to have more than 2 races a year at the track.

I'm really glad you brought this up because not many folks even noticed this aspect of the race. This was one of your Division Director's main objectives; he realized the potential benefits of the AutoFair crowd to both ZMax and NHRA Sportsman racing. Rich really struggled to mesh the two event in hopes of attracting new fans to benefit not just the track but sportsman racers. The possibility of presenting NHRA Divisional racing to an entirely new group of spectators was a REALLY big deal to Rich.

It would be my guess that most on this site don't know the magnitude of that event at the speedway. That show is a vendor's show, car show, swap meet and you are right the amount of coverage that can be gained by having this race at the same time as the event at the speedway will be tremendous. I for one have been waiting since the track opened for this type of event. We have raced there at several diffent events and have always been treated well and really enjoy racing there. We will be there and hope that everyone considers the possiblities here.

How do you get these people to leave the swap meet and go to the track. The auto fair is HUGE. The people that go to Autofair will spend all day there. THe last thing on their mind will be going to the dragstrip.
I'm glad they are doing it. I just wish it was a different date. Chip Johnson |

That date will make this a "one and done" deal. Bruton will not lose $$$. Too bad indeed. IHRA crossovers are the only real chance to make it a go.

Chip you are right, this event is a huge event. In the past there has been something going on at all parts of this complex, except the dragstrip. I believe that spectators will take in the event. Being part of the overall show at Lowes Motorspeedway, the dirt track, with the outlaw cars on Saturday night, this will be just another thing for people to do. You have obviously been there before and know that there are all types of people with all type of car interest. When the expenses and the take-in money for every segment of the event are put together Bruton Smith will not be losing money.
Would the racers in North Carolina rather go to another state and spend their money than to support one of the nicest tracks in the United State, which is right here in your own division and the Division Director who is trying to do things right. |

Would this be the same new director that added the index classes and took away runs for Stock superstock and comp?
