Default Re: Ford Racing Provides Tour Of 2012 Cobra Jet Engine Assem

Mahle pistons & Manley connecting rods right out of the factory. I see why it's said that these engines don't need to be taken apart and blueprinted. It appears that Ford is doing a jam-up job on, not just the motor, but on the whole car.

I saw in a ND ad that you car get these cars in three flavors;

1) turn key Cobra Jet
2) complete finished car less engine/trans so you can add your choise of crate motor or
3) body-in-white for you do-it-your-selfers

Is this any different than the turn-key factory-built (or outsourced) S/S cars of the 60's?
Were they bad for the sport?

I remember in 1957 when I was running my '47 Chevy in D/S and saw those beautiful and fast S/S '57 fuelies thinking, 'Wow, those must just be for the rich guys'. Those cars weren't bad for the sport. Actually, they helped launch the sport.

Guess what, nothing has changed but the technogly.

The only real problem I see is the HP ratings. And yes, I feel for all the upper class stockers with years of work and many $ in their cars being made uncompetetive with the stroke of a pen. Get the HP in line and this will be a great infusion into the sport.

Damn, I didn't mean to get on a soapbox and repeat what's been said many times already. This 3% adj. at a pop is a joke. A lot of us will never live long enough to see the HP ever get right.

I have heard there will definitely be a 7 pound class next year

They could make the HP correct if there was someplace for the cars to go

They should separate the new FI cars from old carbureted cars

Or do you guys just want to be the fastest in the top classes in stock and have all of these cars be super stock

Will it be ok to have faster cars in stock in higher classes than AA, A and B (maybe some FI-FX class)

Ok let's start this discussion all over again

Or should we just copy the previous 25 threads into this one

LOL

:-) peace

$49,995.00 for a 2012 competition roller according to the ford racing parts website. 2012 Mustang Competition Roller. That motor is pretty impressive especially since its built at a mainstream Ford engine plant.

Not main stream, one off, they only do 1 engine every 2 hours. Thats a far cry from a standard line assembly.

Sorta...kinda....however, when was the last time you saw UAW workers assembling NHRA class racing engines ?
