I love this, gazillion dollar race cars in a class that started with F78/15 whitewalls, no seat belts and tee shirts without helmets. If these cars and their drivers are lucky enough to win a race, they will receive the same purse that one would win with a V/SA Pinto. Do the math, it is all just a big dick contest.

Please pass the popcorn.......................

Well it is a non- profit organization------what do you expect to get paid as a winner with a gazillion dollar stocker ? Fun is getting very expensive !

Here we go again...

I do not EXPECT to get paid a single dime - I do not do this because I hope to recoop my expenses.

I hope to watch my son go very fast - and enjoy myself while I am doing it.

I love this so much and enjoy it so much - I am actually OK with paying and the more fun I have, the more it should cost.

Obviously, some are not ready to admit - it is OK to loose money in drag racing or our hobbies (ski boats, off road vehicles, etc.)

They want to justify what they spend in drag racing by saying they COULD win some small amount someday and the less they have spent the less they have lost.

The point is - almost no one is turning a profit in sportsman drag racing (please do not bore me with the names of the few that do)

Almost every single one of us spend way more money than we win - we do it because we enjoy it.

The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys.

Charlie Allen, it's not a big dick contest. I don't think anybody that drives stock a low 13 second or faster car every day to work and back is going to have much fun racing something that's not faster than that. If you have driven nine second cars a 10 or 11 second, or even slower car is not going to be much fun. That's why we do this, right?
My low ten second car is no thrill, I wouldn't want to race anything slower. Just wouldn't feel like racing. Just because a guy has worked hard and long enough to afford a faster car doesn't mean he wants to measure anything with you. Not many of us do this for a profit. I'm happy for anybody that can afford a newer faster car. As long as the hp rating is close to correct.

Not really Ed. I had a 9 second S/G car that I also racing in SST for 18 years. Did ok with it, even won a couple mini walleys with it. I now have a 13 second Mustang stocker and I am having FAR MORE FUN with it than I ever had in the 9's at 140MPH.
And by the way, my dick went from Super Gas big to 13 second stocker small..........................................and I love it!!

My low 13 second daily driver feels slow as heck to me. It would bore me to death to be stuck with racing it. I can't imagine having to race anything much slower than what I have now. It's not about proving anything. If you can have fun in a 13 second car I'm happy for you. If you think guys liking faster cars are dick swingers, then I think you are a sad, probably jealous person.

You are not alone in moving "up" to a slower Stocker Charlie, up here in Div. 6, we have a couple of 6 cylinder Stock racers who used to race much faster cars. Jim Mantle runs a 258 powered AMC Pacer wagon in V/SA, his last race car before the Pacer was a high 8 second 68 AMX (with real Rambler power!)
Bruce Flodin races a V6 Dodge Dakota in P/SA, he used to run a 318 in the same truck in DT/SA earlier on, but ran a S/G roadster for many many years before that.
Even my own M/S 302 Mustang is almost 2 1/2 seconds slower than my bracket car, but I like the small performance gains within the (still) fairly tight limitations that Stock Eliminator demands, the challenge keeps it fun, regardless of how slow it may seem to others.
I don`t get to California as often as I`d like, but I did get to Sonoma in 2010, and I met plenty of area racers there for the 1rst time, including Ron Durham and Charlie Allen, and like most racers anywhere, they seemed like fine people. Saying that you dislike every person from a certain state in a pretty small minded thing to say.
