Tech man, you are a good guy, but you are way off base on this deal. I'm the same guy who slept in the back of pickup trucks in the 50's to race and the same guy who has run enough combos over the years to know the difference. I'm the same guy who couldn't run with the 428's and 396's with my 6 pak, (ran 1 under, but they ran 1.3 under) because the rules were in their favor. I changed sides. We don't need all that tripe you are throwing out there. As far as the new program proposed by NHRA would be offensive to more old cars than new, by about 6 to 1. Facts from figures which were provided to me. That would go over real well with the children. Sorta like hunting Elk with a blunderbuss @ 200 yards. Any I was only looking for results from Stock @ Pomona and I wound up here.

Whether the CJ’s and DP’s are soft or not (and I will throw my combo into that comment also for you whiners) it’s a shame that a PERFORMANCE BASED class could be destroyed by a bunch of whining crybabies who figure the way to move up the qualifying sheet is to complain about the guys at the top rather than working on their stuff or picking a better combo.
Flame away….. Seems to be the only thing some of you are really capable of. Maybe try spending some time on a dyno instead of a keyboard you may be surprised with the results.

Bill your wrong, there are a half a dozen cars in Div. 1 alone that are tops in their class, they have spent much money and dyno time and will still not ever catch the new cars, You are not going to get that much hp out of carb car that has been flogged for the last 5 years under the current rules period.....

I'm with Teuton. I checked into this thread to see the result of this race. And imagine that, another whine thread about CJ and DP cars.

As someone who is DIRECTLY affected by the underfactored built on paper ringers they call cars .I am appalled that a roller cam aluminum intake injected roller rocker high compression purpose built race piece is the EXACT same 284 hp factor as my all iron hydraulic flat tappet emmisions low lift iron intake plastic carb low copression engine with 70's castings and that was actually produced for use by the masses. These cars were built on the same premis that the hemi darts & cudas were built on. PUT THEM IN SUPER STOCK WHERE THEY BELONG. This has caused me to park my currently worthless ride until they factor out or I find something else to build that I can afford!HA HA

This can help any combo get more aggressive with rpm and cam profiles, IF you can find a rocker that will take it. |

I have to comment on this. I read this forum almost every day and while I may not be a class racer, well not yet anyways. I have been around racing for over 30 years. My dad ran Super Stock in the 80's and the thing that a lot of the guys on the site don't get is, all the horsepower or soft classes or whatever is only effective in a heads up affair. The other 99.9 % of the time it is a good ole bracket race. Let me see if this makes any sense at all, a guy by the name of Dan Fletcher has won a ton races and he by no means has anywhere near the fastest car in his class.
The sport as it stands is hanging on by a thread as it is. The NHRA and a lot of local tracks are treating racers like crap, the payouts are a joke and as the people that get treated like crap why would anyone spend all this effort into ripping someone for what car they have or how they run it. I would say there are definitely bigger fish to fry then tearing a fellow racer a new one for owning a new car. If Ford, Dodge, or GM told NHRA to make the horsepower rating 200 they would. Racing has gone back to big corporate payoffs so that there is once again race on Sunday and sell on Monday. I can sure tell you that its a lot easier for someone to leave the track and go buy a new Mustang than it is to find a 68 Camaro or 64 Savoy. If I am way off base then I do apologize. But when I see racers ripping into other racers it is just not a good thing. Let's not make more problems. All racers and race fans should be working towards a solution so that racing is a lot more fun once again.
