All this jibberish about Class Racing vs. Bracket racing is usually brought on by somebody who is a no-name in BOTH categories. Therefore, it is a waste of keystrokes. Those that are failures will always point the finger at an external cause. Winners face challenges with gusto.

Yes, Keith drove very well this weekend and deserved the win. After all the trouble and tragedy for the team, I am happy for David, and Keith. Chris said that they would qualify #1 at some point, and they did, and now have won a race, and I send my congrats to them. I'm sure over the past 2 1/2 weeks, Chris has had a huge smile on his face up above.
As far as the deep pockets post, you will always have that. It's not uncommon to see two racers with the exact same combination be 3-4 tenths apart. It can be due to deep pockets, harder work, or combination of the two. The issue with the Challengers and Mustangs will hopefully be fixed. If NHRA were to make the new cars run FX-style classes, the "deep pockets" could all run against each other and race, and spend, to their hearts content (as I don't personally know anyone with one of the new cars, I can't comment as to whether everyone with a new car really does have deep pockets). The DP/CJ cars are about the only two, super-underfactored cars in Stock, and with potential changes coming to the AHFS, the problems/advantages could possibly be negated. I know a few local bracket racers that tried Stock Eliminator. They were very good drivers. One told me he was going back to brackets because Stock was "too hard and too complicated" and he "didn't like qualifying on one day and racing on another". He also "couldn't dial the car as well going to other tracks as he could at his home track, which he was used to". Another great local driver, when I tried to get him to bring his street car out to run our local tracks' IHRA Div race in FWD Stock. I explained to him the weight breaks, min wt, class Indexes, you can't dial over the Index, and if you run someone in your same class it's heads-up, his response was "Wow. That sounds complicated and hard. I think I'll just stick to what I'm doing". We need a new t-shirt slogan and/or bumper sticker: "Class Racing--it's not for everyone".

As always during eliminations you stand the chance of meeting a heads up car. It was unfortunate for santangelo. It is the chance you take when running class cars rather than the .90 classes, however keith went from not able to participate at the U.S. nationals to getting the car very fast and consistant thru alot of hard work and effort to get that car where it is now just like many, have done with other combos. Keith has always been a tough competitor and works hard on the car to get every ounce of power available.For now we need to be happy for keiths win and all there effort. even though santangelos hopes for a championship were messed up for a heads up run. I think most of us would agree, if we were in keith's shoes and could have beet him we would. it would be hard to be a champion knowing someone took a dive for you so you could win a championship. Congratulation to keith and crew on win!

I see there are still no FX classes in the 2011 rules.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ha PS. I never said Keith was a non-driver. Quite the contrary, he can drive good enough to go all the way to the final. But there sure are some of the other DP/CJ drivers that cannot and they are still going to continue to put you on the trailer if you race them heads up. |
