I've seen the Eagle Motorplex on some of Larry Pfister's Horsepower Heaven videos. Looks like a neat place.
Welcome!

Thank you Michael,
I'm looking forward to the change that IHRA will bring to our area. It does add 5 hours to my commute to go racing but I believe it the will be worth it. Unfortunatly I have a gold card for Mission raceway next year so my trips to Ashcroft will have to play second fiddle until the 2012 season. That will give me time to put the coronet on a diet, fiberglass here I come.LOL Where can I find the horsepower factors and such. I've looked at there website but couldn't find a link. Phillip

Phillip[/QUOTE] A '65 Coronet was a all steel car, no lightweight aluminum body parts that are allowed to be replaced with fiberglass. That is unless IHRA is allowing something different. Oh yeah, I forgot to say LOL |

The 65's had thin gauge steel doors, fenders, hood and front bumper. So I can use the lightweight steel but not fiberglass? Were do I find the hp factors for stock? What is the difference between stock and top stock?

Only with a crate Hemi or as a AA/S (7.0 lb break in IHRA) Hemi. The thin steel Hood, fenders, doors and trunk along with the Alum. door hindges and other lite weight components would not be legal as a smal block crate motored car or a regular stocker with a 383 or another combo. The factory hood scoop would only be legal with a Hemi also. There is no Top Stock anymore. They are dropping the top stock class in stock eliminator also as I hear it.

Not trying to argue, Just trying to understand what is legal in IHRA. My car in NHRA can run AA/SA, A/SA or B/SA, It has the Nascar Hemi with thin gauge steel and hood scoop. It is currently rated at 440hp with a minumum weight of 3690 in A/SA. It is the long wheelbase with a P/W factor of 8.09.
Where does it fit in IHRA? I heard IHRA uses the original factory HP ratings, So does that mean I'm at 400hp? Fiberglass instead of thin steel? Fiberglass hood scoop? Why are there only a few racers that have set records in IHRA? Almost all classes are at a minumum.. Can I really run the 71 demon hood scoop on my 71 duster? Thanks for the help guy's

Most records are at min. because there is no incentive to set one. No points and the NHRA guys look down their nose at the IHRA deal anyway. Most think its to much trouble to tear down and as I understand the IHRA has a policy of if you want a record you show up with the engine already torn down (on Fridays I believe)......Its inspected THEN....you put it together, it is then sealed and you run during the time frame allowed for records on Saturday.. You need to call Hank Blakenship (Tech guy) at 276-531-8654 or Danny Waters Sr. (tech guy) and you can email Danny from this forum to be 100% sure of this as its been about 10 years since I have worked for IHRA. Some things have changed in that time. But be aware that they will be in Va. this weekend for the TOC race. The middle of the week next week would be the best time to contact either of those guys. Jim Woods is also a stock S/S tech guy for IHRA and you could contact him from this forum. Check with these guys about the Duster hood scoops. I hope this helps a little.
