Default What is best big block chevy combo for SS/GT

Looking to build spare motor over the winter, wondering what you all thought was the best factored combo. Currently run a 402/340 and may build another one. Anyone got any 820 heads that are done laying around?

That is the 454/335 truck peanut port motor. It works out great in a small car if you can hook it. I have a 84 camaro and could not get light enough to run that combo. I think the 73 454/365 combo has alot of potential as well as the 71 402/335.

We raced a GT/DA Camaro with the 402/335 combo built by Mike Keown. When we ran it, it was rated at 340. Had two engines and the car and engines are for sale, just have not been run in a couple of years. We do not own the car but are still good friend with the owner and know everything is still available. Also have an extra set of McDowell heads for the combo, that we ran a few years ago. If your interested in buying something complete shoot me an email.

73 454 with 049 heads is the best that I can think of for that class

I see there is a head, 6272292 that is legal for the 71 402/335 and the 73 454/365. Anyone used this casting? Problem is the 402 combo says the chamber volume is 105cc and the 454 combo says it is 110cc. Were they two different heads with the same casting number? Would be nice to have these and two shortblocks.

I have a stock set of 1974-76 454 heads #346236 that I do not need. Let me know if interested.
