Jeff,
You do make a good point. I am still leaning towards the broken promises which I would lay odds that it is along the lines of class dominance by these cars. If you are right that it is heated due to the number of classes it could also be resistance to, dare I say it, crate motor classes. Because that is what these are basically, crate motors. Don |

All races between cars of the same class are heads up no break out. For example, any time a C/SA faces another C/SA in any eliminations at an NHRA event, it is a heads up no break out race. Yes, the new cars have put top of the line traditional combinations on the trailer with ease during final eliminations.

So, you think they're helping to "grow" the classes. Well, Bobby DeArmond is not racing, he has one of the two fastest automatic 69 Camaros in the country. Arnold Greene is selling his 69 Camaro and getting out. Ralph Popora has both his 69 Camaro and his 66 Corvette for sale (not sure what he's doing, but it's pretty interesting that they went up for sale a week after the screwing that was Indy ![]() ![]() There are a lot of other cars either parked or for sale, and their owners either sitting it out, or getting out completely. These are the people who helped build these classes. This is how NHRA thanks them, by forcing them out. And you cheer NHRA on. Go figure. ![]() The fact of the matter is, the only truly new people these new cars bring in will be gone as soon as the insurmountable advantage is gone. Most of them would not have built a car if it didn't have such an advantage. Some kind of advantage would be 1-2 tenths over the average traditional car. Not 4-5 tenths over the best traditional cars, out of the box, in bracket mode. ![]() We can see who the clown is here. Only no one is laughing at you, yet. Most of them are just shaking their head. ![]()

All I know is that I was ready to buy (not build at this age) an A/S 65 Corvette or A. R. Greens car (Been lookig at a couple of others also) myself but when I saw the joke at Indy Im stepping back for now. Im going to wait and see what NHRA is going to do about it all. I have cash in hand but right now Im keeping it in the bank rather than just pi$$ it away. None of it makes any sense as to WHY they are dragging thier feet to correct this joke.

The quick fix ( and I'm not saying it's right or wrong) to this problem is to simply do away with head's up runs and have everyone run off dial-in's, therefore the advantage of these killer combo's would be negated.
The only problem with this is some smart DP/CJ racer might dial slow then put a fender on everyone and bump the throttle to the finish line but this would still be better than what we have. JimR

Oh yea - make it a high dollar bracket class "No headsup"
No need to weigh - no need to fuel check except maybe in qualifying - hell let's change that too and make it go off of reaction time Think of the money NHRA will save - no need for a class guide or anymore tear downs. No one would care what class you are (or are suppose to be) Would not have to invest in anymore expensive "go fast" parts or technology No Headsup great idea ... NOT BTW I am selling mine too - trouble is who would want it? It will be worth more as a possible "resto"
