A few questions. How many LT-1 Firebirds came off the assembly line?Did NHRA get and accept a letter from Pontiac, ala Carroll Shelby, about an LT-1 Firebird? My point about running a business was how much more are they going to let slide and what's the breaking point before enough racers tell them to go ***** in their hat and just park their cars? What's your take on this Mr Dgal? BTW that should be wringer, not ringer.:>):>)

The NHRA is far from perfect, but trying to compare the 1998 LT1 to the current Drag Pack/Cobra Jet while holding onto a slippery slope angle is weak. The LT1s existed, were registered, had their own class (FI/FIA), and there was zero performance advantage. I think a 1998 LT1 can hook on your slope. Don |

So,I believe there had to be a specific run off the assembly line to get in the guide?I think it used to be 500.The Mustangs are sliding with 100.I don't know how many drag packs there are.The point being NHRA is whoring themselves blatantly since the late 90s.
I just think it has to stop or S/SS racing is toast, along with the other misguided policies killing the whole sport.

Section 9.1 of the 2010 NHRA Rule Book "A 500 minimum of a particular body style must be produced.......Special run must include a minimum of 50 of an already accepted body style, need not be showroom available. Applications evaluated on an individual basis. Acceptance will not imply precedent."

Is it Jim?The Firebirds are 1 of 0.The DPs come in pieces as do some of the CJs.None
of the new cars have a VIN # to register them. The DPs don't even have a 3rd member. It only opens up a can of worms.

Emmons' car is a 96 with a 96 LT1! There are a few cars, like Bartoli's that are 98's and run LT1's. I understand that in 98, they allowed the cars to be updated and still run the LT1 in stock and ss! Hey, it's no different than running the drag pack motors in ss! How many and what year cars were they offered in???
What I'm learning here at Indy is it's who you know and who you...............well, you know the rest! Last edited by Bryan Worner; 09-05-2010 at 11:43 AM. |
