A big check book bought the top qualifying spots.
It always did. |

What SHOULD happen is 3.25% adjustment 5 times bringing them to 372HP which is still a ways off, but would be a good start. 372HP would make them natural A cars with a weight of 3145. Then they would just take some weight out to get to 3145 and work on getting more e.t. out of the cars. Not exactly sure, but I am thinking that this is the first time more than one competitor with the same combination has triggered instant HP.
Now for what will happen. 3.25% will be 11HP, and NHRA may realize that they are a little bit to fast so let's just throw about 20HP on them instead of just 11. This will slow them down to only running 10.20s in D in bad air.

With Indy weather 131.36 MPH should be close to 10.05 ET.
1320/131.36=10.04 ET. 9's at a sea level track should be a breeze.

But will these guys run Atco or Mission points meets or save it for Indy next year?
Looks like the best way to avoid them is to run a stick. So far most are slushboxes. |

Paul,
I have news for you. It takes a big check book to run/own any fast upper class Stocker. You don't think that the hitters have close to or over $100,000 in their cars? Be real, what do you think it would take to build a car like the DeFrank Stocker or similar? And what do you think it would take to purchase a turnkey car from someone fast like Hawk or Shaul? You need just as much $$$ as if you were buying a CJ or DP. And even more if you started by doniga restoration. The problem isn't the money, or the that they are turnkey, it is the underfactored hp. If teh cars were in line no one would care. |

Plain and simple. These cars(DP/CJ)would just be another car in S/S.The factories wanted them to stick out and NHRA whored themselves (like they did with the FI cars in the 90s)only it's more obvious now.If I had aA-E car I guess you could call it crying on my part. But I only have a lowly T car.Do you hear me crying about Bob's car?BTW what make and class is your car? Ed, Detroit hasn't built a carbureted car since the mid 80s. So, you are wanting the class to be nostalgia Stock? EFI hardly ruined Stock. I love how you cry babies make blanket statements that don't really make any sense. One car was a run-away in the 90s, the LT-1, but there were plenty of other EFI combos that got spanked by carb cars. Dean Uhhhhh, you seem to agree with me after all about the point I make about correct factoring.

yeah a big checkbook bought that 2004 pt cruiser...actually the only top spot not owned by $$$$ instead by ingenuity at work (he actually looked up a good combo and built one) he did not have detriot just pencil one in !
on tuesday he will be rewarded by opening the tailgate and getting some HP. but unlike the real days of stock racing he will only get what the AHFS will allow... Farmer would have filled that little truck up with HP... it would be AFS next race !!!! who cares anyway , its all BS anymore nice job charles, show how it used to be !

Well, it's Tues and maybe Glendora gets a travel day back from Indy but wondering if anybody is checking the classification guides for hits or we wait for Travis to alert with a thread like he did last time (BTW a nice gesture on his part). Really curious if there will be any "special" hits like they did Art.
And yea you guys care...BS or not you care.
